The Interwetten Honda MotoGP rider and his team were very pleased with a good qualifying session that ended with tenth position.
Hiroshi Aoyama finished qualifying for the Gran Premio d'Italia TIM today at Mugello in 10th place. The session went very well for both team and rider and Aoyama was holding fifth position for a few laps during the session, thus displaying a big step forward.
For the race tomorrow the main focus of the Interwetten Honda MotoGP Team is on making further improvements and a top-ten finish should be possible for the 28 year-old.
Hiroshi Aoyama, 10th, 1'50.224
“Today we finished in the top ten and this was a really good qualifying session for us. We still have to keep improving to be even stronger, but the set-up and the bike worked well today and I was able to fight from the start. We understood the bike better during this session. I hope we will have a similarly good or even better race tomorrow.”
Daniel Epp, Team Manager
“After what was more or less a weak practice yesterday, Hiro and the team took a big step forward today. A starting position of tenth is something we hoped for, but also something we expected and Hiro achieved it. He is still not where he could be, he could be half a second faster if yesterday had been better, but he has improved.”
